Hi there! I’m a of twins and certified non-professional at it. The truth is, I just became a mom five months ago. I’m exhausted and hungry and desperately in need of a shower. I hardly know my left from my right, so I darn well don’t know what I’m doing well enough to write a blog about it. With what little free time I have, I should probably just curl up and take a nap instead. I want to. Believe me, I really want to. But this is exactly why I created Two Little Shadows. The world is full of twin moms just like me who are too exhausted to share their story. So, for all those women out there who recently got the two for one special on an ultrasound and have no idea what to do next – I’m here. For those women who are up at 2 am, struggling to stay awake, and only just started feeding the first of two babies – I’m here. For the high-risk moms, the premie moms, the moms who are waiting to bring their babies home from the NICU – I’m here. In-vitro or spontaneous. Formula-fed or breastfed. Identical or fraternal. I’m here for you. This is my story. It’s messy, emotional, and just beginning. Let’s figure it out together.
Two Little Shadows is not a mommy blog. I feel it’s important that I say that. This is my journal. I may give a few tips from time to time, but my focus is on being real and sharing my journey. Was twin pregnancy hard? Yes. Was the newborn stage hard? Double yes. Is postpartum hard? Triple yes. Was it all worth it to have two amazing babies that I love? Well, what do you think…? My heart has exploded with love for these babies. I genuinely can’t believe I got so lucky.
Two Little Shadows
“I saw a young mother
With eyes full of laughter
And two little shadows
Came following after.
Wherever she moved,
They were always right there
Holding onto her skirts,
Hanging onto her chair.
Before her, behind her—
An adhesive pair.
“Don’t you ever get weary
As, day after day,
your two little tagalongs
Get in your way?”
She smiled as she shook
Her pretty young head,
And I’ll always remember
The words that she said.
“It’s good to have shadows
That run when you run,
That laugh when you’re happy
And hum when you hum—
For you only have shadows
When your life’s filled with sun.”
