These are a few of our favorite things…

Best-overall, absolute-must-to-survive, buy-extras-in-case-one-breaks kind of stuff.

The Play Gym by Lovevery

From the first first round of eat, play, sleep, this play gym was our number one friend. No, brand new babies don’t really “play”. But they look and when they have pretty things to stare up at it helps with development. Plus, it is a great place to start tummy time.

Twin Z Pillow

With multiple uses, the Twin Z Pillow will become a staple in any twin moms home from day one. Use it for breastfeeding or to sit the babies in as a double boppy pillow. As newborns, my twins could lay in here for naps as well, while being closely watched of course.

Dangling Stroller Toys

Developmentally, newborns will only be able to look and marvel at the pretty dangly things. My twins sure loved to do that. The best part is these toys stayed relevant for several months while they continued to grow learned to move their little arms.

Moving & Singing Elephant

This toy is great for coercing that first smile out of baby. I liked this one the most because of the length of the songs and animations between pushing the button. Most toys were very short, but this one was longer, so you don’t have to push as often. As a twin mom, you’ll usually be juggling a few things at once, so you’ll appreciate little things like this.

Baby Delight Bouncer

Simply put, this is just a good purchase. Whether you have one baby or two babies – you need a bouncer. I initially liked this one because it was reasonably priced and we needed two of them. It held up great and the babies loved staring at the dangling leaves.

Wheel Activity Suction Toy

This is another toy that will last through for a couple months. At 3 months, this was great for tummy time and managing head and neck control. One of my twins had torticollis which is very common with twins, and this toy was a great at home PT tool for him.

Fisher Price Sit-Me-Up Floor Seat

Once the twins had really mastered their head and neck control, these sit-me-up seats became a part of the daily rotation (yes, we have two!). At 4 months, they didn’t want to stay in them very long, but it was enough time for me to eat a meal with both hands or throw a pizza in the oven. At 5 and 6 months, the twins still really enjoyed these. On hot days, they would sit in the garage and stare at the cars passing by until nap time.

Animal tails crinkle book

If I had a “best of the best” toy award, this crinkle book would be a contender. My twins loved these books. At 3 months, I would hang it from the activity center and the twins would look and touch it. Then overtime they started to grab it and eventually the tails were in their mouths until the book was soaked with drool (they are machine washable!) Until about 6 months, I always had these books packed in my diaper bag.

Magic Merlin Sleep Suit

This sleep suit is called magic for a reason. Neither of the twins loved being swaddled for very long and by 3 months they were breaking out of it in the night. It was a little early for the Merlin at 3 months, but luckily I was still able to get them to sleep through the night. Once we switched to the suits, there was no looking back. Jonah hit a regression at this stage but without the suit it would have been so much worse.

Skip hop activity center

This activity center is maybe the greatest thing I’ve ever purchased of all time. The twins have loved it since 4 months and still love it today at nearly 8 months old. It comes with 6 different toys attached to it with a 360 swivel seat in the center. Even though the twins loved this so much, I only bought one of them, mostly for space purposes.

Bath Seat with tray

Bath seats are a must once your baby is pulling up, but with twins, you really have to start sooner that that. At 5 months, the twins were very good supported sitters, so we made the transition to bath seats. It wasn’t very easy to bath them since they were very sturdy yet, so I ended up using the seats as more of a treat on certain bath nights. Those were the fun bath nights. They really enjoyed it, and then eventually every night was fun bath night.

Baby einstein take along tunes

I knew from the beginning that I didn’t want to introduce light up toys too early and even then I didn’t want to have too many. I started with this toy at 5 months and they loved it so much, I never needed to get more. They still share just one of these and have not gotten sick of it yet.

wooden spin wheel

We have the Lovevery version, but pictured is a well rated dupe from Amazon. Truthfully, my twins didn’t take immediately to the 5-6 month Lovevery kit toys and it made me nervous. I convinced myself they were delayed somehow, but they just wanted something different. Thats why I put so much thought into the toys we do have. Eventually this wooden spinner became a staple, but the others are still waiting for their moment.

Bumbo Multi-Seat

I got these by mistake when I registered for the wrong type of bumbo seat and didn’t notice until it was too late. Long story shirt, it turned out to be perfect because the twins hated sitting in their high chair at 6 months. I really wanted to start them on table food before daycare, so we tried them in the multi-seat and they loved it. They would only eat if they were facing each other touching feet.

dreamland weighted sleep sack

While the Merlin is magic, it can also be difficult to get them out. Jonah had no problem, but Allison fought us tooth and nail to stay in it as long as possible. Finally, we found the Dreamland Weighted Sleep Sack. She loved the weight of it and the sleeves reminded her of the merlin. We finally got her transitioned after a couple nights. We loved it so much that we switched her and Jonah to the regular weighted sacks and they are still in them now.

Mushie stacking cups

This is another toy that would make the best overall list. Once the twins were sitting up on their own, I knew I needed to upgrade to developmentally appropriate toys. They loved these cups immediately. At first they were scooting them around and slowly getting them in their hands, then they were able to pick them up easily. This is such a great toy to introduce at 6 months to help with the development of the pincer grasp.

EvenFlo Pivot explore wagon

BEST PURCHASE EVER! This wagon saved me from maximum anxiety at daycare drop off. With the wagon, I can easily get them in and out by myself without causing a scene. It has now become our main stroller. It’s perfect for strolls around the neighborhood or through the park. The babies are strapped in with a three point harness, but still able to sit up and look around. There are shades to block the sun and the handle can be switched from the front to the back to give you the option to pull like.a wagon or push like a stroller. At a very reasonable price point, this is a 10/10.

Joovy Spoon Walker

This walker may look like the plain Jane of walkers, but it can do so much more! The large tray is a great place to stick a bunch of toys and just let the baby have a good time. Mine like to sit facing each other and play.
